Transformation Textiles

Transformation Textiles currently works in East Africa to reach out and impact the emerging generation of Africa’s young women with empowerment through education and enterprise.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, 1 in 10 girls will miss approximately six weeks of school each year because of the lack of access to affordable sanitary products.

Confronting this challenge, Transformation Textiles produces a range of affordable sanitary products for consumers who live below $2/day income. Branded "EVA", these products are 75% more cost-effective than other solutions available and can last up to 3 years. Access to these products allows girls to remain in school to complete their education, or women to have the dignity and confidence to go to work all month long. This simple change empowers women to break the cycle of poverty and places value upon womanhood.

In 2016, Transformation Textiles began to focus on how to bring grassroots enterprise for women to sell or manufacture the EVA brand locally within their communities. One "EVA" recipient described what having employment meant, "We used to be just women, now we are PEOPLE". Wow! This statement speaks volumes about dignity and women.

About The Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre

The Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre is a non-profit organization offering assistance to anyone facing challenges related to an unplanned pregnancy. We have been a caring part of the community since 1985 offering a compassionate response to people in challenging situations. All services are free and confidential.

Facing an unplanned pregnancy can be confusing and overwhelming. We are here to listen, answer questions and provide support and education. When families thrive, so do our communities. Practical support services include maternity and baby clothing, prenatal and parenting classes, financial literacy and life skills programs, post adoption and post-abortion support, and connection to community agencies and supports.

We are also committed to preventative education. Our highly regarded TakeCharge@School program helps teens navigate pressing questions concerning sex, relationships, and dating. By sharing information, encouraging dialogue, and participating in critical thinking, teens are equipped to evaluate healthy perspectives and behaviours. Our new TakeCharge@Home program educates parents about online media and the challenges children face with the Internet. Through dialogue and the provision of resources, we provide parents the tools necessary to stay ahead of the digital curve.

About AMARIS

“Weaving families together, because every child matters.”

AMARIS Adoption and Family Support Services is a non-profit adoption and support agency operating in the province of Alberta.

We believe that every child, youth, and young adult are precious; that children are meant to flourish within a loving family—even if that family consists of only one caring adult. We exist to support adoptive parents, guide expecting or birth parents exploring adoption plans, walk with new adoptive families, and strengthen families needing support. We empower individuals and couples to make informed choices for their family while always keeping the wellbeing of the child our first priority.

In addition to domestic and international adoption services, we provide birth parent counselling, post adoption support, education; and mentor, respite, and Age-out programs.
