Living in Color is a recovery and healing program developed for women who are struggling with a past abortion experience. This 8-week program has been designed for use in a small, facilitator-led support group; however, it is suitable for small groups, mini-groups or on a one-to-one basis. The facilitators could be mentors, pastors and peer or professional counsellors. The program is suitable for all women, whether or not they have a faith background.
While each woman’s experience is different, some women experience strong negative emotions following an abortion. While many women do not experience emotional trauma, some women find themselves to be stuck emotionally – in what can be referred to as the grey zone.
Emotional responses such as denial, isolation, guilt, shame, depression and anger can follow an abortion experience. Once these feelings are processed, healing can be embraced. The program assists women as they process unresolved grief in the “grey zone” and emerge into a life full of color, freedom and joy.
The Living in Color training seminar is designed to equip individuals with the skills needed to confidently support women who are struggling with a past abortion experience.
Topics discussed include:
This one-day training provides the tools for facilitators to come alongside post-abortive women and help them journey through the grey zone to celebrate life in color once again.
